Our Clinical Research Facility (CRF) proudly joined colleagues across the Research and Innovation Department to celebrate Red4Research 2026 – a national day recognising everyone who makes research possible.
From research nurses, doctors and laboratory staff to clinicians, research practitioners, data teams, administrators and, most importantly, our research participants, Red4Research is an opportunity to celebrate the people whose dedication helps improve healthcare for patients today and in the future.
Across St George’s, our CRF team showed their support for research and recognised the incredible contribution of colleagues working across our many research specialities. Every study, every participant and every member of the research workforce plays an important role in advancing new treatments, improving care and shaping the future of medicine.
As part of this year’s celebrations, our CRF staff also supported Red Cell Day, helping to raise awareness of the Improving Black Health Outcomes (IBHO) Bioresource and its Sickle Cell research programme. The IBHO Bioresource aims to improve understanding of health conditions that disproportionately affect Black communities and increase opportunities for more inclusive research.
Our team also joined colleagues at the Red Cell Day awareness stall in the Grosvenor Wing at St George’s Hospital, where staff spoke with patients, visitors and colleagues about sickle cell disease, the importance of research participation and the work being undertaken to improve outcomes for people living with the condition.
The Red Cell Day event was generously sponsored by St George’s Hospital Charity, whose support helped make the awareness activities possible.
Red4Research reminds us that research is a team effort. Whether delivering studies, supporting participants, analysing samples, or helping to spread awareness in our communities, every contribution matters.
Thank you to everyone who wore red, visited the stalls and continues to support research across St George’s Hospital and the wider Research and Innovation Department. Together, we are helping to shape a healthier future for all.
